Antwerpen
Antwerp is the most important port city in Belgium, located on the river Scheldt, 88 km before its mouth in the North Sea and is the capital of the province of the same name. In the 16th century, the city was one of the richest trading cities in Europe. However, the conflicts between Habsburg and the Netherlands brought about its decline. Since 1863, Antwerp experienced a renewed flourishing as a Belgian port. The city's container port is one of the largest in the world and - after Rotterdam - the second largest in Europe. Due to its historic port location, a remarkable metropolitan versatility of gastronomy with international influences developed. Antwerp holds a multitude of architectural highlights from the 16th and 17th centuries for its visitors. The 20th century also saw the emergence of architecture worth seeing, following the 1930 World's Fair. Discover the different sides of Antwerp during a city tour and an extended walk. Among other things, you will see the late Gothic Church of Our Lady, the largest church in Belgium. Also on the program are Steen Castle, the dock halls and the Vleeshuis (Meat House), and the Grote Markt. Stroll through the medieval alleys, past modern buildings or soak up the flair of this city during a leisurely break in one of the many cafés.
Ghent offers its visitors a very special experience with its wonderful medieval architecture. One of the most famous sights is certainly the imposing St. Bavo Cathedral in the old town. Let yourself be enchanted by the special charm of this city during a guided tour.
Rotterdam not only has the largest seaport in Europe but is also probably the most architecturally interesting city in the Netherlands. Particularly impressive is the Rotterdam skyline, which has developed over the last 20 years and has turned the city into a Dutch "Frankfurt on the Main". Experience this vibrant city on a sightseeing tour.
The canals give Amsterdam a special charm and remind at every turn that you are in the heart of a seafaring and trading nation. They form a canal system that runs through the entire city area and thus shapes the face of the city. Meanwhile, the multitude of canals extends over a total length of 80 kilometers, which has earned the city the nickname "Venice of the North": 165 canals, 1281 bridges, 70 tour boats, 8 wooden drawbridges, 2,500 residential boats and 120 pedal boats will leave a lasting impression on you. Look forward to a canal trip along the magnificent merchants' houses from the Golden Age.
With Amsterdam, a city awaits you that is as vibrant as it is versatile. Modern lifestyle and the flair of the Golden Age combine to form an incomparable symbiosis. You will find ultra-modern architecture and trendy restaurants as well as idyllic cafés, flea markets and traditional canal houses. Nowhere else in the world are there so many listed old buildings from past centuries as in the Dutch metropolis. The houses stand so close together as if they had to give each other support so as not to fall over.
Enjoy a relaxing day on board.
The Hanseatic city of Nijmegen with its 160,000 inhabitants is the oldest city in the Netherlands and looks back on a history of over 2000 years. The city gives you a particularly impressive welcome when you cross the Waal Bridge into the center: the Waalkade and the silhouette of the city center form an impressive unit. Past and present go hand in hand; historical parts alternate with modern architecture. The city, situated on a ridge on the banks of the Waal, has exerted a great attraction on people for centuries. The city tour leads off the beaten track through small winding streets, in which you can still feel the breath of the Middle Ages. Among other things, it passes the Valkhofpark with castle ruins, the town hall, St. Steven's church, the Latin school and the customs house with mosaic wall.
